Energy Manager Job Description (Hyderabad, Telangana, India)

Position Overview:

An Energy Manager in Hyderabad, Telangana, is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing energy management programs and strategies to optimize energy consumption, reduce costs, and improve sustainability across an organization or facility. This role focuses on monitoring energy usage, identifying energy-saving opportunities, and promoting sustainable practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Energy Monitoring & Reporting:
• Track and analyze energy consumption patterns across facilities.
• Prepare and present detailed reports on energy usage and performance metrics.
• Monitor energy consumption trends to identify areas for improvement.
• Implement energy audits and manage energy data collection systems.
• Energy Efficiency & Sustainability:
• Develop and implement strategies to reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency.
• Conduct regular energy assessments and propose energy-saving projects.
• Identify renewable energy opportunities (e.g., solar, wind) and assess their feasibility.
• Recommend best practices for sustainable energy use and reduction of carbon footprint.
• Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and national energy regulations, including energy efficiency standards and environmental laws.
• Stay updated on the latest energy policies, codes, and technological advancements.
• Project Management:
• Lead energy-saving projects, from concept to implementation, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for energy-related projects.
• Oversee installation and maintenance of energy-efficient equipment, such as LED lighting, HVAC systems, and energy management systems.
• Budgeting and Cost Management:
• Prepare and manage the energy budget for the organization.
• Optimize energy procurement strategies to minimize costs while ensuring reliability.
• Analyze energy pricing and negotiate contracts with utility providers.
• Staff Training & Awareness:
• Train and educate staff on energy-saving practices and sustainability initiatives.
• Promote energy conservation culture within the organization.
• Technology Integration:
• Implement advanced energy management software tools to track, analyze, and control energy use.
• Explore and recommend modern technologies for energy savings and sustainability.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborate with other departments, such as maintenance, operations, and sustainability teams.
• Communicate energy-saving initiatives and progress to senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Educational Background:
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Energy Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Experience:
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in energy management or a related field, preferably in commercial, industrial, or facility management.
• Hands-on experience in implementing energy efficiency programs and energy audits.
• Skills:
• Strong understanding of energy management systems and sustainability practices.
• Knowledge of energy auditing tools, renewable energy technologies, and energy-saving techniques.
• Proficiency in energy management software (e.g., Energy Star, Power BI, Energy Plus).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong project management abilities.
• Familiarity with energy regulations and standards in India (e.g., BEE norms, Energy Conservation Act).
• Effective communication and people skills.

Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory):

• Certified Energy Manager (CEM) by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).
• Energy Auditor certification.
• LEED Accreditation (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).

Work Environment:

• Typically based in corporate offices, manufacturing facilities, or industrial plants.
• Occasional site visits for energy audits and assessments.
• May require flexibility in working hours depending on project deadlines or operational needs.
